Blushing Blurbs

Saturday Leftover Day.

This week was spent getting the ilustrations done for my article about Stan Lee's efforts to get out of comics for the December issue of Alter Ego, where it will be featured on the cover (since it is the annual Stan Lee birthday isue, this time his 95th). It will have many surprises, so gte your's while they are hot. It reminded me that I have wanted to do a seperate article about the photo funnies that were popular around in the early sixties, with Harvey Kurtzman doing them in Humbug and Help and Stan Lee in a seperate series of Monster photo gags. It seems Harvey was he first to move the funny captions from underneath the photo to a text balloon (inspired by the Italian fumetti) but Stan was doing them the oldfashioned way long before the rest of them came along. Here is a spread from Snafu, that is nice to look at, too.

Really nice, Ger.
Just reading about the Mad knock-offs now in your book. Love it.

Good to hear. We worked hard on it and are glad it is doing so well.
